Building scalable, user-centric software that accelerates innovation.

With a robust background in full-stack development and machine learning, I specialize in building scalable, user-centric software that accelerates innovation. At Campfire (YC S23), I'm currently focused on developing modern accounting tools that empower startups and mid-sized tech companies to operate with clarity and precision.

Previously, I joined Suger (YC W23) as Employee #2 Founding Engineer, where I built the Go backend from the ground up, architected a Vue3-based interface, and led the end-to-end integration with Salesforce. The role required deep knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP — and demanded both technical precision and product intuition to drive adoption.

I bring a collaborative mindset, long-term thinking, and a bias for execution to every team I join — with the goal of delivering impact that lasts beyond the next sprint.

Key Achievements

  • Top Contributor at Campfire

Became the top contributor across both frontend and backend repositories as the company scaled from seed to Series B, shipping core product features, reliability work, and major refactors.

  • 6 Production Integrations

Built six core production integrations—Rippling, Bill.com, Brex, Salesforce, HubSpot, Finch—owning design, implementation, and on-call. Delivered the full lifecycle from auth to product-facing UI workflows.

  • First-in-Market GCP Capability

At Suger, delivered GCP Marketplace support despite missing official APIs by reconstructing required flows from observed network requests and encoding them into a 24/7 automated service—a first-in-market capability that materially strengthened our competitive position.

Testimonials

  • Shiman Guo

    Shiman Guo

    Full-stack Engineer, managed Samuel directly

Samuel is one of the most efficient software engineers I've come across. He's super focused, never wastes time, and knows exactly how to prioritize tasks to get things done. He's also great at jumping into different code bases and tech stacks without skipping a beat. Plus, he's awesome at working with different teams and people. Fast learner, hard worker—an all-around solid teammate. Highly recommend!

  • Chengjun Yuan

    Chengjun Yuan

Co-founder at Suger, managed Samuel directly

Throughout our time working together, Samuel consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to quickly learn new technologies and immediately apply them in current projects. One of the most impressive aspects of Samuel's performance is their capacity to handle large, complex projects from start to finish. Even when faced with ambiguity and unclear requirements, Samuel has shown the ability to dive into the details, formulate a structured plan, and deliver high-quality results independently.

  • Tom McGuire

    Tom McGuire

Software Engineer at Valora, Samuel's mentor

Few are fortunate enough to have an intern as skilled and driven as Samuel. I had the pleasure of helping mentor Samuel throughout the summer of 2022 working closely on the Valora Wallet. Samuel's ability to jump into a new code base and ship features touching both the front and backend services were superb; he was able to quickly learn our practices and process which was apparent in the quality and quantity of work he produced. Samuel's work ethic and desire to learn were of a quality that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any future engineering team; any team would be lucky to have him as a member.
